Ugh!

Cyan asked me what gay meant. I have avoided a couple questions like this lately. So this time I explained as best as I could in a PG way. She said "Well that is awkward, you mean like two tuxedos". Maybe I just should have ignored the question.

Train

This is what Olivia did while the adults did some yard work.

Bike Ride!

This morning we took a bike ride around our neighborhood. You may not realize when you are in a car but we live at the top of the hill. It is not huge but when you have 6 year old legs it is a little tougher. So we made the loop through the neighborhood. Cyan made it the whole mile without any problems and then all the way up the hill. Here we are pre-bike ride:

Lettuce

Remember when I said that my garden was washed out by the Memorial Day monsoons. Well here is the result.
Yes, people that is lettuce growing under the trampoline. Maybe next year I will plant the lettuce there and if there is a monsoon season the neighbor will get the crops.

On the up side we do have radishes that are about to pick. Plus the cucumber, squash, zucchini and snow peas are doing good. The lettuce that remained in the garden is growing and I think the tomato plants may have survived the hail storm after all.

Bikes

So guess who taught herself how to ride a bike in 3 days. That would be Cyan.
Excuse my camera for the blue tint. Not sure why that is happening.

Sleepover and fishing contest

Grandma Kitty invited the girls to come and stay the night and then go to the fishing contest the next day. The girls were thrilled to stay the night and then go fishing. Turns out it was pretty cold and rainy instead. Still, they had a good time. Here are the prizes they won.

Cyan has a real cowgirl hat.
Olivia won a grab bag with all kinds of stuff. There were gumdrops, carmel corn, a light up glass, a t-shirt, and a knit hat. She says the hat is going to be called the sleeping hat. Sounds great to me because then she might not want to wear it everywhere.

Here are the girls on the trip home.

There was a funny story about Grandma Kitty trying to dry Amelia's underpants by the fire. She got a little too close and Olivia shouted "Amelia your panties have fire on them"

While the kids were gone James and I did the grocery shopping. You would not be suprised to find how easy it was without them. Plus we went to the Flying W for dinner and the show. I have never been and it was pretty cool. Next time we have to get there earlier to explore the town more.

Butterflies

Olivia recieved butterflies for her birthday. Well really she got catterpillars and we watched them turn into butterflies. Olivia really enjoyed watching them. We released them this week. Here are the pics.

Enough is Enough

So the Johnsons are committed to nature. I mentioned earlier that we had a robins nest and were able to see the babies get bigger and leave the nest. But enough is enough. Every year we have pigeons that try and built a nest outside our bedroom window. And yes it is loud and annoying at 5 am. So James has been shooting them with the BB gun for a couple days. Then we decided to move the nest. This was the result.

Notice one egg on the roof and one in the rain gutter.

Wedding

Last night the girls and James were in a friend's wedding. Everyone was very cute. The girls did such a good job of looking like little princesses. Here are some pics

Circus!

Thursday night's circus was very fun. Cyan's favorite part was the tigers and the dogs. Olivia like the elephant and clowns. James enjoyed how one of the acrobats was having an off night and almost fell 5-6 times. Here are some pictures.

UP!

We took the girls to see Up! on Friday. I have to say that it was a very cute and touching cartoon. I was in tears within 5 minutes.

See it when you can!

Bike ride!

This morning the girls asked to go on a bike ride. This is the first of the season so we got all the stuff out of the garage and headed out. We toured the neighborhood then the next one over. We were over at Cyan's school and James got a flat tire. It was not repairable so Cyan and I had to peddle back home and get the car. So here is how James' bike came home on the first bike ride of the season.

Olivia and the Rockies

Olivia started T-Ball on Saturday. She is on the Rockies team. She thought it was pretty cool to get a hat and have her own coach. This is the first time she is able to play. The past couple years she just watched Cy because she was not ready. Here she in her hat.

ER

We had our first ER visit in many many years. Cyan had a little Power Wheels accident with some neighbor kids. She bumped her head and had a bruise. Then she started throwing up. The pediatrician's office said she needed to go to the ER so off we went. When they put the bracelet on her she got very nervous that it meant she would have to stay there. But we had her checked out and she is fine just a little nervous.
