Ocean Beach (Day 9)

Our final day was actually Easter Sunday.  We had a good breakfast, went to church at a nice little church, and then checked out Ocean Beach.

A whole bunch of surfers

The Ocean Beach Pier

Next we returned the car right under the airport and headed home.

Seals, Sea Lions, and Cabrillo National Monument (Day 8)

Day eight we planned on sending GG home but first visted La Jolla to see the seals and sea lions.  It was pretty cool to see them up close and we all liked how the seals bobbed in the water.

A hard to see crab but it is there.

At the Cabrillo National Monument

The actual monument.  Cabrillo was the explored who found San Diego.

We walked up to the lighthouse.  Here is Olivia's looking out the top of it.

Sea World (Day Seven)

Day 7 took James and I a little north of San Diego early in the morning to visit a gym he follows online.  He wanted to buy a t-shirt.

Next brought a return trip to Sea World to finish all the stuff we missed on day 1.

Some pics from a play area

The Polar Bear (this new exhibit is very cool)

 Underwater of a beluga whale
 Walrus
 Penguins
A ride the girls went on and somehow even talked James into.

James hurling after the ride (fake)!
We made a return visit to the Manta roller coaster.  After that we were lucky enough to catch feeding time for the rays.  You are supposed to put the fish between your fingers, put your hand in as low as you can, and they suck it out.  The girls were really creeped out especially since the 6+ foot rays kept coming over and no little ones.  Cyan at one point just got brave and stuck her hand in and fed the big ones.

A view from the sky needle ride

A very nice dinner thanks to a recommendation from Alyssa.  Although we will remember the elevator into the kitchen experience.

Sea Kayaking (Day Six)

Day six we planned on sea kayaking in La Jolla but the day started with boogie boarding in front of the condo.  I will note the water was very cold but once you went numb it was very fun to boogie.  In fact, Mom did the most boogie boarding.

Olivia's version - she was a little scared.

The sea kayaking was the thing I wanted to do the most.  The pictures will have to be forthcoming because we haven't had the underwater camera developed yet.

That night curiosity got the best of James regarding the locked cabinets at the condo.  More than one way to skin a cat so he just removed the cabinet doors.  Mostly there was just extra supplies in the cabinets.

San Diego Zoo (Day five)

Day five landed us at the San Diego Zoo.  This place is huge and has animals I have never heard of let alone seen.
 Cheetah
 Kangaroo
 Camel
Secretary Bird (It is almost waist high and a bird I never knew existed)

Polar bear
 Red Panda
The famous pandas and this is the baby of the family. We learned that all the panda's belong to China and are only on loan to zoos across the world.  Even the babies born at the San Diego Zoo belong to China.
