Good Times

Cyan and Olivia like to hear about what they did when they were babies. I told them when they were in the bath they liked to make mohawks with the shampoo and then seewhat it looked like. Cyan said "Those must have been good times."

Cheerleaders

The girls put on thier tutus and asked me to tie up their shirts. They wanted to look like cheerleaders. The proceeded to practice a routine and then performed it for me. It was hilarious and very cute.

School update!

So a quick update. Cyan aced the 3rd spelling test in a row!

Next there was an IB Family Night at her school. They had stations all around the school to go and visit. At each station you learned on of the qualities of an IB learner like risk-taker, caring, principled, communicator, inquirer, knowledgeable, open-minded, reflective, thinker and balanced. Our favorite is being a risk-taker.

The bonus was we won a Chili's gift card for participating.

Breakfast in Bed

Our Cyan and Olivia are very early risers. This Sunday they decided to put that time to good use. They made us breakfast in bed complete with coffee, cereal, and string cheese. They even put flavored creamer in the coffee.

Second Spelling Test

Tyler's Birthday Dinner

On Saturday evening we celebrated Tyler's 11th Birthday at Applebee's. It was quite the gathering. Here is a pics:

On Saturday we had a little Birthday Party for Cyan. We took Maia, Delia, and Hannah to Artsports for Open Gym then went to Dairy Queen for ice cream. Much easier than a full on Birthday Party.

Olivia's Winter Gala

Yesterday was Olivia's first school program. The sang a couple songs like Mitten Weather, Row Row Row your Boat and the 5 Snowmen. Here are the pics:

She was so excited that she has been asking for it for a week. She woke up at 5:30 that morning and packed a bag and was ready to go. The program was not until 5 pm.

Student of the Month

I went to Cyan's school yesterday to volunteer. It just so happened that while I was there she was awarded as student of the month (for the 2nd time this year). She received this award for being caring which we all know is what Cyan is all about.

So congrats dear sweet Cyan!!

Spelling Test

Cyan had her first spelling test yesterday. I am proud to report that she received a 100%. We knew she would though.

Cyan turns 7 extravaganza

On Friday our dear sweet Cyan turned 7. Hard to believe, really.

She started the day with this house:

Then opened this present, which was some workout clothes and sweatshirts:

She went to school and got picked up for a yearly doctor checkup. Then we went and did this to her ears:

We had her favorite bean burritos for dinner at her favorite place Del Taco. Then we came home for cake. These were trick candles but they were no match. Cyan still managed to blow them out.

The next morning she got dressed in this:

And went to the Y and exercised. When you are 7 you can go with your parents to the cardio room. She learned the rules from the trainer and worked out for 45 minutes. She tried the treadmill, rowing machine, and elliptical. We went swimming for a bit then went here:

Focus on the Family where the girls went down the slide a million times.

The good news is we had James with us for this whole birthday event. Pretty special day for the best little girl. WE LOVE YOU CYAN!!!

Next weekend we are going to take a couple friends for a little party.

2nd Quarter

Cyan brought home her 2nd quarter assessments yesterday. They were completed in December. You almost have to have an advanced degree in statistics to understand them but I did my best.

Cyan scored 68 in reading fluency and the goal is to have kids at 61 by the end of the year. She scored 96% on her math test. She scored 7 out of 7 in her writing sample to include have a topic sentence and 3 additional sentences.

She is going to start having weekly spelling tests now.

I dont think 1st grade was this difficult when I was there.

James' child

This is how you know that Olivia is just like James. Sunday morning she came into bed with us. She was being sweet and waking him up very nice which is a change from the usual dive bombing. All of a sudden she got into an eye poking contest with him. The two were locked in battle and that little devil would not give up. One time she stopped and gave in but only would call it a tie. Not sure what will happen when the two most competitive people battle...

Biting

Over the weekend Olivia and I were hanging out on the couch. I was tickling her and she leaned over and bit my arm. I quickly gave her a swat on the bottom and sent her to her room. She came back down and I said we needed to talk. I told her that it hurt when she bit me. She said "Well I don't like it when people spank me for no reason"

I think she forgot there was a reason.

New Years and Such

New Years Eve we went to Uncle Dan's to play some Rockband. It was pretty fun so much so that James is now looking to purchase.

New Years Day we hosted the Johnson's with a special appearance by the Retzlaff's (and thier new twins). Pretty fun!

Today we had old friends from California over. We have not seen Megan and Christopher since Cyan was an infant. They are thinking of moving here so we showed them around.

All a lot of fun but all done without a camera.
