We had a 3rd Quarter Parent Teacher Conference with Cyan's Kindergarten teacher. She had some very nice things to say about our sweet Cyan. First, Mrs. Hoehn has sat Cyan next to a Spanish speaking child. Cyan's job is to help the kid get his stuff out and ready and assist him with the work. Mrs. Hoehn said that Cyan is always very kind and sincere when she helps him.
There is also a girl that has a pretty severe speech disability. Cyan has always been helpful in translating for the teacher what the girl is saying. If neither of them understand Cyan comes up with ways for them to figure it out. Once Cyan thought to tell the girl to get her book and show them.
Cyan was also rewarded for organizing the room. Maia and Cyan (they are best friends) organized the dramatic play and book area without being asked. Sometimes when the kids have book time the teacher tells the kids to give the books back to Maia and Cyan so those girls can put them back nice.
I have to rat out James - when he heard all of this nice stuff about his baby girl he got all teary eyed.
Have to say we love that baby girl...

Roscoe
For those of you who like the Roscoe pics. This day was one that was nice. Olivia rode her bike for hours. When the kids ride bikes the dog runs up and down the street with them. Then Olivia went to the trampoline. The dog jumped up there with her. Roscoe ran around the outside of the trampoline and Olivia chased him from the inside. This went on forever. He looked like a greyhound on a track. But with all that activity this is what I found later in the day.
DNHM
We visited the museum yesterday. There was a Grand Canyon IMAX showing. We thought we would see what it was all about since we will be visiting there in a month. It was pretty cool.
Here are the pics:
Waiting for the movie to start.
I had to share this one because Olivia was smiling nice and Cyan was hiding behind her Dad

English Muffin Pizzas
The girls and I had an old Johnson tradition for dinner tonight. We made English Muffin Pizzas. The girls prepared thier own. They are pizza traditionalists so you don't need a topping selection just cheese. The preparation was pretty fun and the girls were pretty impressed. However when it came time to eat their creations it was another dinner battle. Cyan especially did not like them although that should suprise no one.
Here are the pics.

Craft Morning
Somehow the kids convinced James to make crafts this morning. First they made caterpillars then butterflies. We put both on a stick for a puppet show.
Here is James and the girls making the craft:
I would have had a picture of Olivia's finished project but she was hiding from me. She got under our bed and stayed quiet as can be. Cyan and I were near hysterics looking for her. Cyan was ready to call 911. The little sneak stayed under the bed quiet as can be just tricking us all.

Cyan says funny things
Today Cyan said two funny things today. First we had to attend a funeral for a great uncle of mine. She didn't remember the word funeral since she has never been to one. She said what time does the "Dead Zone" start? Funny - even when it is not supposed to be.
Then on the drive to the funeral she said she had a very important question. She said "Mom, do people who use sign language still think in thier heads like we do?" When I told James that he said "No, Cyan they think with thier hands too"
Now I think those two things are funny, you may not.

Funny Dog
This is Cyan sitting in a clothes basket with Roscoe. I thought it was funny that he would just willingly sit there. Don't ask my about his eyes and why they do this in pics. It is a little creepy.
When ever I do laundry the kids make up games or forts with the baskets and the pillows from the couch. I think this game they were dog rescuers. They kept going to the toy laptop to check if there were other dogs that needed rescuing. I supposed if they found any the new dog would be required to sit in the clothes basket as well.

Spaghetti Dinner and Dance
Last night there was a Spaghetti Dinner and Dance at Cyan's school. Aunt Joy accompanied us. First there was a nice dinner then the party started with a lot of dancing. The kids were taught the moves in gym class. It was cute and very fun. Cannot wait for next year.
Here are the pics:
The only pic of Aunt Joy I got. We are eating our dinner
Cyan with her friends.
The hokey pokey with Cy's teacher
The start of Michael Jackson's thriller. It was really cute. Even the little kids knew it.
Olivia being a crab and dancing with her Mom.
Olivia being crabby with her Dad. Plus he is apparently imitating her.
Mrs. Hoehn (Cy's teacher)and me doing the Electric Slide

This is the start of a dance called "The Kung Foo Kick". It is a song about the movie Kung Foo Panda.

Sick Sick Sick
After a couple pretty rough nights, trips the the dr, and a couple of prescriptions our Olivia may have finally turned a corner. Yesterday the Dr gave her a steroid for the bronchitis. It seemed to help and I think the poor thing finally got some rest.

Getting Married
Olivia has found love at the Y. His name is Nick and he is 4. She is always talking about getting married to him. Yesterday I told her that she was too young to think about that and she should just be his friend. I said that you have to be 30 to marry Nick.
She thought about that for a second. She thought I was pulling a fast one and lying to her. She pointed her finger at me and said "Wait, are you 30?" Lucky for me the answer is yes.

Needles
Olivia calls nails "needles". Her calender fell out of her wall and she was asking for another needle. We were a bit confused. I think it is cute though.
Valentines Day Celebrations
Cyan's school had a Valentines Party on Thursday. It was also combined with a end of the book unit quarter. They got to wear pajamas and exchange Valentines cards. Cyan had looked forward to this party all month. I am not sure which she thought was better the Valentines cards or the pj's.
On Saturday we were awoken by Olivia saying that she went downstairs and her Valentines present was not there. I think she thought it would arrive in Santa Claus style. Pretty funny but totally Olivia.

Sleeping Arrangements
Roscoe has been sleeping with Cyan for months now. Here is what we saw when we went to tuck Cyan in for the night. She is sleeping, Roscoe is sleeping. Tell me this dog is not spoiled. He is also her best friend.

The Johnsons have time off
Today starts 2 full days that all 4 Johnsons have off and get to spend together. I know that most families have this frequently (it is called Saturday and Sunday). It does not happen that much for us. We hope to have lots of fun and not drive each other insane with our togetherness. Today is mostly shopping and tomorrow might be more fun....
Wish us luck....

Super Bowl
The girls and I hosted a super bowl party with a couple ladies. It was a bunch of kids and a little madness. I forgot to take many pictures. In fact, I only took this one. Here are the girls getting ready for the 3-D commercial break.
