Book reader

Yesterday James went into Cyan's school to read a book to the kids. He read "How I Became a Pirate". It was super cute. All the kids just stared at him and gave thier full attention. Cyan thought she was pretty cute too. Of course I left my camera in the car. Cy's teacher took a picture and I will post it as soon as she emails it to me.

Let's hear it for Dad of the Year!!!

Tooth Fairy

Cyan came downstairs in tears at bedtime last night. She was really upset that the tooth fairy was going to be taking her tooth. She said that she liked to look at it and wasn't ready for it to be taken. She asked if the tooth fairy could just come another night.

We wrote a note and asked if the tooth fairy would leave it for a couple more days. The tooth fairy granted this request and even left the money.

What a sweet kid...

Dog and Kid Exercise

This is why we have a dog. They wear each other with this game that both kids play with him a couple of times a day at least.

Missing tooth!

Cyan woke me at 5:30 this morning with the news that her tooth fell out. The good news is it was loose to begin with. The bad news it was 5:30am.

School Bus

Cyan rode the school bus home for the first time on Thursday and Friday. I am totally nervous about her making a mistake and getting off at the wrong stop. So on Friday, Olivia and I met her at the stop. She got totally upset and said she wanted to walk home by herself. She ran from the bus stop all the home. Olivia and I couldn't even keep up.

She totally burst my mothering bubble.

We have not come to a solution. I offered to wait at the end of my street where I could see the bus stop. She insists I wait in our house. Either this will end with me at the end of the street or her getting picked up at school.

School work

Cyan brought this home as her writing sample a couple days ago. She says the one with the brown hair is Olivia and the one with the tears is her. She said in this picture Olivia just slapped her.
In case you could not tell - it says my sister is mean.
Isn't motherhood grand!!

Sabbath feature

Ok, I need someone to explain my oven. So I am reading the manual to find out what kind of light bulb it requires (my husband would be proud that I actually am taking the time to do it the right way - don't tell him though he would never believe you). So I am trying to find the light bulb info and came across something odd. Apparently my oven is equipped with a Sabbath Feature (it says designed for use on the Jewish Sabbath and Holidays). Can someone explain that to me?

Could it possibly mean that I don't have to use it again until a Jewish holiday? That would be too good to be true...

Cyan on a rock

Here is a pic of Cyan the rockclimber. This was taken at a park. I was not looking and all of a sudden she called to me from the top.

Another Olivia Moment!

Olivia has had a particularly loud morning so when things became too quiet James got nervous and started to look for her. This is where he found her.

Let me explain. This is Olivia hiding behind the couch eating a stick of butter. She said "well I just am hungry". All I am thankful for is we found her before she ate the whole stick, as it is the couple tablespoons are bad enough.

Yesterday when things became too quiet I did a little exploring myself. I found Olivia had stolen a paint by numbers kit from her sister's birthday stuff. She had painted it in her room then threw away and cleaned up all the evidence of this crime. Cyan still doesn't know - I am not telling to avoid the fight.

Those of you who knew her father at a young age will apprecate this.

Birthday Gift

Cyan saved up all her Birthday money and bought this leapster. She has been glued to it ever since. I have volunteered the reward that when she knows all of her sight words she can get another game. The problem is she is learning these sight words at an amazing pace.

Olivia even got in on the action. She was very patient throughout most of the celebration of Cyan's birthday. After a couple days she decided enough was enough. It came to a head at the Dr's office where Cyan had to get a shot. After the shot Cyan was allowed to pick a toy from a basket. Olivia instantly reacted like why is everything about Cyan lately. She was so upset she wanted a shot just so she could get a prize as well. Olivia finally felt included when Grandpa Snowball included birthday money for her as well. She picked out a dog in a purse toy.

Here are pics with their purchases:

Loose Tooth

Cyan has her first loose tooth. It is very exciting. She cannot wait for it to fall out. Although she is her mother's daughter because she bit something and it caused the tooth to bleed a little and she totally freaked out. I cannot imagine where she gets that from.

Cyan's Birthday

Today with celebrated Cyan's birthday with her friend Amanda and both of their little sisters. Amanda's birthday was 2 days before Cyan's, so we celebrated both days at the same time. We went to Art Sports and then to Chic-fil-a for ice cream. It was a fun birthday gathering. Here are some pics:

Birthday Presents

After Cyan was finished at school we headed to Focus on the Family to play really quick (we tried to go this weekend but arrived right as they were closing so this was the best compromise we could come up with). We picked up Cyan's favorite food, bean burritos, for dinner. We opened presents, sang Happy Birthday, and ate cake. It was an all craft supply birthday gift. Cyan has more crafts than she will know what to do with.

Here are some pics:

Cake

Here is Cyan's Birthday Cake. It almost qualifies for a submission to the blog that I read called Cake Wrecks. Or whatever!

Happy Birthday Cyan!

Our sweet little Cyan turns today. When she woke up she said "My life is changing now." Don't we agree. Today she has school where I am going to come and volunteer in the afternoon. She has goodie bags to hand out. After school we are going to Focus on the Family to play. She has chosen bean burritos for dinner and then we are going to open her gifts. She is going to be receiving a mountain of craft supplies from her parents. She will be in heaven.

WE LOVE YOU, CYAN. Crazy hair and all.

Nick

I picked Olivia up from the childcare at the Y. Apparantly she had made a new friend. All the way home all she could talk about is how she loved Nick. It was really too cute so I had to come home and video it to share.

Olivia also colored a pic this morning at the Y. It was a pic of some random superhero. She said "Dad I colored this for you because you are Superman". I cannot imagine she could have said any words that her Daddy would have loved more.

Cyan started back at school today. Hurray! Yipee! Yeah! Woohoo!

Only a couple days until her birthday now.

Gingerbread Smash

In the beginning of December the girls with painstaking effort made these Gingerbread houses. After the end of the season we didn't know how to dispose of them. In classic Grandma Kitty style we decided to smash them. We took them to the open field today and smashed them to bits. We picked a cold day that is the reason for the faces in the first pic. Here you go...

Cyan found this stick and pounded it a couple more times.

For those of you who do not understand the Grandma Kitty reference let me explain. I remember her always wanting to fling the Christmas tree with a catapult. I am not sure if she was going to take the decorations off first or not. Plus there were the years of the mini pound puppies tied onto bottle rockets. So for Grandma Kitty we smashed today...

Home Depot

After our workout today we squeezed in a visit to Home Depot and completed the kid project. We put together the book ends at the store and came home and painted them. Here is the finished project.

We have started the countdown until Cyan's birthday. Our baby is turning 6 this week.

DMNS

Yesterday we packed up and went to Denver to try out our new membership to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. We have not been there in a couple of years and really enjoyed our visit. There was a temporary exhibit about dinosaurs and some new theories. For example they now believe that a T-Rex could probably not outrun a human. They think they could only run 7-10 miles and hour which is considerable different than the 45 mph they used to believe. At the end of that exhibit the kids got to pick a cast of a Utahraptor claw.

Here is a pic with them and the claw, notice the beautiful smile my dear Olivia was giving. What a gem.
Here is Daddy and his girls walking into the museum.

After the museum we went to dinner at a place we found on the web. It was a Mexican restaurant that has won Best of Denver type awards. It was good. Here are some pics of us at dinner.

This picture is deceiving. I am not drunk.

New Years Day!

We hosted Grandma and Grandpa Johnson and Aunt Joy for dinner on New Years Day. I tried my hand at my first prime rib, it turned out well if I do say so myself. Grandma brought kid champange and the kids really enjoyed drinking it out of wine glasses. After dinner we played the Wii with Aunt Joy and then turned in for the night. Here are the kids with thier glasses.

New Years Eve

This New Years Eve was interrupted by a little drama from some neighbors. Some of you will remember that we seem to have lots of neighbor drama. All I can say is don't meet your neighbors, don't know their names and don't be nice to them. Then when they are going off the deep end they will not call on you. Plus you might want to make them a little afraid of you so that they try not to upset you. We have apparently done none of those things.

After dealing with the drama we went to a friends house to ring in the new year. It was a good time. Cyan fell asleep before we left and didn't wake when we transferred her to the car or to the next house. Olivia stayed up playing with their little girl until she crashed at 10. We rang in the New Year, finished the drama, and went to bed.

I should have brought a camera, not for the drama part just the party one, but I forgot.
